Welcome to Hannah Philip's Suzuki Violin Studio in Richmond Upon Thames, Surrey.

Tuition is given through the Suzuki method:

Students learn first to play 'by ear', through repeated listening, daily practice and parental support
(a process by which we all learn to speak).

Children learn to play the violin in small manageable steps:

First learning correct posture, bow hold and how to make a good sound.
Therefore, the skill of the instrument comes first, and later comes the note-reading.

Parental involvement is crucial:

They provide the environment that is to be saturated with music, guide home practice
and ensure that daily listening takes place.

Children take both individual and group lessons
See Calendar for group lesson dates.

'I teach from the premise that given a proper musical environment, parental support, and eagerness to learn, any child can be a talented musician'.
