Hannah Philip
Hannah Philip (born 1985) is a qualified Suzuki violin teacher, ex-member of NYO and free-lance performer. She teaches privately in Richmond Upon Thames, and at Hindhead Music Centre in Surrey http://www.hindheadmusiccentre.co.uk/ . Hannah started playing the violin when she was almost three with Suzuki teacher Sally Lisney. At a young age, she performed solos in the Purcell Rooms and the Barbican Hall in London, as well as concertos with London orchestras. She went on to study with Esther Boda-Katona and Joshua Fisher at the Royal College of Music junior department for six years.
In 2001, Hannah became a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. Venues for their concerts included Barbican Hall (London), Symphony Hall (Birmingham), Bridgewater Hall, (Manchester), St David's Hall (Cardif) and Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. One of these was a Promenade Concert televised on the BBC in the Royal Albert Hall. Hannah decided on her career path after spending four months at a music school in Kolkata, India http://www.mathiesonmusictrust.org/ where she taught violin, amongst other subjects, to over fifty children.
Aside from teaching, Hannah performs regularly at the Royal Star and Garter Home in Richmond for ex-service men and women http://www.starandgarter.org/ . She is also a member of up and coming folk band Six Toes http://www.myspace.com/sixtoes1. Currently, Hannah teaches over thirty pupils age 3 upwards.
Qualifications: Certified by British Suzuki Institute Grade 8 distinction: Violin Grade 6 merit: Piano BA hons, English and Psychology Trained ABA tutor for children with autism (Full recent CRB check)
